Ford Wet Belts – Cardiff

Situation
We recently had a vehicle come in with the oil light flashing at 48,000 miles

Cause
The belt runs inside the engine with the oil and overtime the fibres fall into the sump, which then blocks the main oil ways and causes damage to the engine.

Solution
Renew the wet belt. Remove sump, timing cover and camshaft covers inspect and clean all areas for timing belt fibres. Replace belt. Clean all filters and the clean the complete oil system out. Replace the oil filter & renew the oil. Replace the spark plugs.

Maintenance
Change the oil every 8,000 miles or once a year. This will remove the belt fibre from the sump. Wet belt changes are recommend every 50,000 miles.
